Building Curious, Creative Learners
I’ve always been deeply curious and creative, and I believe those qualities should be nurtured in every student. At PotsickEDU, my goal is to help students develop confidence, clarity, and a genuine love of learning through engaging, thoughtful instruction.
I believe students learn best when they are active participants in the process. That’s why my teaching emphasizes projects, discussion, and meaningful choice—giving students multiple ways to explore ideas and demonstrate understanding. I also love incorporating games and game-based elements into learning, creating an environment where students feel motivated, challenged, and excited to participate.
A Focus on Thinking, Not Just Content
Two areas I believe are especially important—but often underemphasized—are history taught in context and logic.
History, when studied thoughtfully, is one of our greatest teachers. Examining events within their broader context helps students understand not just what happened, but why it matters.
Logic is equally essential. Learning how to think clearly, evaluate information, and analyze arguments gives students tools they can apply across every subject—and throughout life. By combining logic with history, discussion, and real-world application, students gain a deeper and more accurate understanding of the world around them.
Supporting Parents and Homeschool Families
I strongly believe that parents are capable of guiding their children’s education all the way through high school. If you’ve ever felt uncertain or overwhelmed, let me encourage you—you’re more capable than you think.
PotsickEDU exists to support families by providing high-quality instruction, enrichment, and personalized guidance. Whether through live classes, self-paced courses, or one-on-one tutoring and coaching, my goal is to come alongside families and help students thrive academically and personally.
Experience and Background
I spent over 15 years as a classroom teacher in public schools, working across elementary and middle grades. In addition, for more than 16 years, I’ve been actively involved in homeschooling alongside my wife, giving me both professional and personal experience with diverse learning styles and educational paths.
Over the years, I’ve worked extensively with students through private tutoring and small-group instruction in subjects including math, civics, science, language arts, logic, and executive function skills. This wide range of experience allows me to adapt instruction to meet each student’s unique needs.
